Our 'Highest Unique Bid' auctions offer an opportunity for you to lay your hands on say, a $250 Cash Card for under $20, once it appears that you have entered the successful bid at the closing of an auction.

Here's how it works:

As a Gas Card Auctions member you can bid on Cash Cards which are auctioned continuously. Each auction has a bidding ceiling which is always set lower than $20. This means that your bid can never be higher than $20 or whatever bidding ceiling is set for that auction. A bidding ceiling for an auction could be as low as say, $2.70.

If your unique bid is the highest at the closing of an auction, you are the successful bidder.

If the auction script determines after an auction has closed that your bid of say, $2.35 was the highest unique bid for that auction and the value of the Cash Card was say, $250, you would have secured a $250 Cash Card and it would have cost you only $2.35 plus the admin fees you have spent for that auction.

Each auction is subject to increments at which bids can be entered. When the increment has been set at say 5 cents, it means you could start at 5 cents, then enter 10 cts., 15cts. etc, all the way up to $20. When increment is set at 5ct. you cannot bid $3.33, $7.72 or say $12.77 because those amounts are not dividable by 5.

When an auction has been set up and is running, the 'reserve' (cost of the cash card) has to be attained before the auction can close. The reserve is the number of bids needed to cover the value of the Cash Card.

It is determined by the value of the Cash Card divided by the value of the admin fee (admin fees are usually $2 per bid). In other words, the reserve for a $500 cash card will be 250 bids. (250 X $2 = $500).

A countdown to the 'reserve' will appear on the home page as soon as the last 20 bids before the reserve will be attained have been reached. As soon as the reserve is attained, this countdown will be replaced by another one which shows days, hours and minutes left to the closing of the auction which will always be 48 hours after reaching of the reserve and be always at 20.00pm.

Members will be reminded by email about the closing of the auction on the closing day so they still have an opportunity to enter bids.

Each participant in an auction receives an email when it has closed, advising whether their bid was successful or not.

You can follow the status of your bids in your members area in real time. If you at any stage during the auction are the holder of the highest unique bid and it has been disqualified by another similar bid entered, you will be notified immediately by email.

An admin fee will apply to every bid you enter. Fees can vary between $1.00 to $3.00 depending on the value of the auctioned card and is announced on the auction's bidding page. When you enter a bid, only the admin fee will be deducted from your internal account balance -
NOT the bid amount itself.

You don't pay for your bid until it has been registered as the highest unique bid at the end of an auction.
